SUMMARY:Disaster Preparedness for Small Business Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Is your business prepared for a disaster? Emergencies come in many shapes and forms. They can take the form of natural disasters or man-made catastrophes such as fires\, hurricanes\, fires\, floods\, medical emergencies\, and even violence in the workplace.\n\nJoin the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce and The University of Texas-Pan American Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on June 16 to learn more on what you can do to protect your business' livelihood and company assets in an emergency. \n\nThe session entitled ''When Disaster Strikes! Emergency Preparedness for Small Businesses'' will be held from 2 to 4 pm at the Harlingen Chamber.\n\nPanel participants will have backgrounds in accounting\, insurance\, technology\, and emergency management.\n\nThe workshop addresses how to secure company information for remote access\, record keeping needs\, insurance needs for business continuity\, and emergency contact information and tools to incorporate into company emergency policies. \n\n''It is highly important to plan for business continuity in case of an emergency. Setting priorities\, identifying all resources and business insurance needs\, and developing resource lists are just a few factors to consider in adequately preparing for a disaster. This workshop provides business owners with the information they need to get started on their planning process\,'' encourages SBDC Business Advisor Cristina Cantu.\n\nWho should attend? Business Owners\, Managers\, Supervisors\, and Safety Specialists will benefit greatly from this session.\n\nTo register for this free seminar\, please contact the Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce at (956) 423-5440.
