DESCRIPTION:Join us for September's Women Empowering Women event! This month\, our prestigious keynote speaker is Jill Fleuriet!\n\n\n\nDr. Jill Fleuriet is a professor of Anthropology at UTSA. Originally from Harlingen\, Jill graduated from Harlingen High School in 1990 and attended Harvard College\, Sandiego State University and Stanford University. She teaches antropology courses about culture\, borders\, gender\, health and medicine\, and caregiving/work. Jill also serves as the Associate Dean of the Honors College\, where she is responsible for the Honors College curriculum\, student advising\, and faculty. Jill received the Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Texas System (2017) \; UTSA's President's Distinguished Achievement Awards for Faculty Mentoring (2021)\, University Service (2019) and more. She was named a Fellow of the University of texas System Academy of Distinguished Teachers in 2018. Jill published her first book this year\, Rhetoric and Reality on the U.S.-Mexico Border: Place\, Politics\, and Home\, on her research with leaders in the Rio Grande Valley.\n\n\n\nPlease RSVP to attend this event.
