Downtown Harlingen Walking Tour

Take a step back in time with a Downtown Harlingen walking tour! The free tour will depart from Java Café at 9:00 a.m. and last approximately one hour. Participants will hear about frontier days, mid-century boom times, and modern Harlingen. The tour guide will provide insight on the city's past nicknames of "Rattlesnake Junction," "Six Shooter-Junction," and "Howlin' Gin" and explain how ice made Harlingen famous. The tour includes stops at several larger-than-life-size murals and the city's smallest park. Wear comfortable walking shoes, dress for the weather, and come prepared to have fun.
