Kids Say ''Hooray for Healthy Play'' at the Children's Museum of Brownsville!

Engaging in healthy play is a vital part of a happy childhood. That's why we believe in teaching children about the importance of nutrition, safety, fitness and outdoor play! So put your electronic games away, because the ''Hooray for Healthy Play'' Program is coming to the Children's Museum of Brownsville starting September 5, 2009. Join us for exciting demonstrations, interactive workshops, special guests and clinics every Saturday in September from 11:00a.m. to 3:00p.m.#####September 5th, Shapesville-----Shapesville in Brownsville is a day for children to learn about health and nutrition. The Infant Family and Nutrition Agency (IFNA) will be here at 11:00a.m. to educate kids on the food pyramid in ''Nutrition 101.'' Expect some exercise tips, games and prizes! At 12:00p.m. personalize your very own chef's hat and stir up some creativity. Later, at 1:00p.m. participate in our monthly Storybook Club where everybody's favorite storyteller, Ms. Andrea, will read ''Shapesville.'' Then, create your own shape puppet! Finally, at 2:00p.m. take a cooking class with After School Chefs and learn how children can prepare healthy and yummy foods!#####September 12th, Flights of Fancy-----The Flights of Fancy Program promotes a healthy mind and body for children. Arrive early at 10:00a.m. and learn how to make your very own kite with South Padre Island Kite Enthusiasts (SPIKE). At 11:00a.m. participate in outdoor play in Let's Go Fly a Kite! Join SPIKE members in our plaza to learn the basics of flying a kite. Bring your kite, make it here or purchase one from our gift shop. Afterwards, learn how to ''Shape up Your Feelings'' with Anabel Brofy. This Child counselor will conduct a Play-Doh Workshop to help kids deal with their feelings in a healthy way.
