Annual birding festival to showcase the many birds of the Rio Grande Valley, from South Padre Island to Laredo. Daily field trips, keynote speakers, workshops and presentations, large trade show, live education raptors, silent auction, student art contest and many socials. The largest annual event in Harlingen, this 5-day Birding Festival generates over 700 visitors to the city, and upwards of two million dollars to the local economy. Due to the central location of Harlingen, and the vast natural resources along the Rio Grande in National Wildlife Refuges, State Parks, County and City Parks, this ideal location for a birding festival is unparalleled, and the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival is in its 26th year (started in 1994).
