About Us

We started  around 1950 with Mr. Justo Barrientes Sr. as our founder. He had a dream of having a restaurant that you could go to and have fresh shucked  oysters on the half shell and a nice cold beer; a place to come enjoy your fresh seafood and relax. Our first restaurant was established in downtown Brownsville , on the corner of 11th and Levee Street and has expanded to where we are now. 
 
Over the years we have seen families grow. Generations of families have come and  gone through our doors, making our restaurant a nostalgic place to come to, where you make memories and enjoy great seafood. Today Justo Barrientes Jr. and all of us here at the Original Oyster Bar, continue to fulfill our founder's dream of having a nice, relaxing restaurant to come to. We will continue to share his dream with you and your families.
