The Harlingen Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Candidates Forum on Monday, October 22, 2012 in the boardroom of the HCISD Administration building, 407 North Sunshine Strip for all candidates vying for a position on the Harlingen City Commission. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. The purpose of the forum is to give candidates an opportunity to present their views on business-related issues affecting our community. All seven commission candidates have been invited to participate. The ground rules and questions will be developed by a committee of the Chamber. The Chamber believes in a well-informed and politically engaged community. This is an excellent opportunity for the voters of Harlingen to learn more about the candidates' views related to business and the economy in our local area. The Harlingen Chamber's mission statement is "To promote, advocate and support all businesses in our community through member services." Their vision statement is "The Chamber will be the advocate for all businesses, promoting economic prosperity and growth for the community."
