Marine Military Academy's Signature Fundraising Event of 2010! The Academy's General H.M. Smith Foundation welcomes former astronaut and current National Aeronautics and Space (NASA) Administrator Major General Charles F. Bolden, Jr., U.S. Marine Corps (Ret) as Dinner Guest of Honor/Speaker and Iwo Jima Leadership Award recipient. The event will also feature General J.F. Weber, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret), Texas A & M Vice President - Student Affairs and MMA Board Trustee, speaking on the topic ''World War II Battle of Iwo Jima''. Smith Foundation Dinner, a revered and prestigious annual MMA tradition honoring the memory of U.S. Marine Corps General Holland M. Smith--famed war hero, benefactor of children, and staunch donor and supporter of Marine Military Academy, was created in 1970 as a means of expressing gratitude for the extraordinary support given by General Smith towards the school's growth and development and those that share his dedication to MMA. Major contributors who have reached or exceeded $100,000 or more in contributions to MMA within the last fiscal year are inducted in to the Foundation as ‘Fellows'. To date, 130 ‘fellows' have earned induction into the Foundation. This year's inductees include Mr. and Mrs. Milton Huebner of Houston, Texas; and, in memoriam: MGySgt Thomas J. Jones, USMC (Ret) and wife Jean of La Mesa, California; and Mrs. Pearl M. Tade of Carlsbad, California. Don't miss this year's General H.M.
