To kick off Sabor del Campo on Friday, October 16, 2009, savor morning tours of local Mexican sweet bread bakeries better known as ''Panaderias''. The tours will include information on the history and cultural background of these bakeries and focus on recipes with possible hands-on baking classes. Farm tours will also be an option. Cost and time pending. The Friday evening event will feature the Mexican state of Coahuila; home of the oldest winery in Mexico. They will showcase wines, food and music of the region, and display traditional rebozos (shawls) crafted in Saltillo, Mexico. The event will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Place and cost pending. ***** On Saturday, October 17, 2009 from mid-morning to 3:00 pm, a fajita cook-off organized by Kori Marra's ReMax Lonestar team will take place to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. The event will be held on Jackson Street in downtown Harlingen. Cost pending. On Saturday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 pm The Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum will host a Texas Wine Tasting and Deep in the Art of Texas event. Admission $10.00 per person. Wines from several Texas wineries and regions will be featured along with an array of cheese and fruit. Meet area artists and enjoy an opportunity to view and/or purchase their works of art.
