Lecture by Dr. Antonio "Tony" Zavaleta. Curanderismo means folk medicine in Spanish. In Mexico, it is based on Aztec , Mayan, and Spanish influences. The ancient native cultures believed that a delicate balance existed between health, nature, and religion. Though rooted in ancient cultures, it is still practiced today -- right here in the Rio Grande Valley. Tickets: $2 per person, only 100 for sale, and can be bought at Club Padre and the SPI Visitors Center.
