The Rio Grande Council, Boy Scouts of America will hold the ''2010 Centennial Celebration'' Dinner, on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at La Sierra Event center at 6:30PM. Col. R. Glen Hill, USMC Ret., Superintendant of Marine Military Academy will be honored as the fourth recipient of the ''Centennial Leadership Award,'' which will be presented at this benefit dinner. The ''Centennial Leadership Award'' has been designated by the Rio Grande Council of the Boy Scouts of America as an award to recognize a civic, community, or business leader who demonstrates patriotism, leadership, and service at a local, state, or national level. The candidate must also provide service and support to the character development of youth within Cameron County. Past honorees include Senator Eddie Lucio, Neal O. Simmons, and Monsignor Gustavo Barrera. Col. Hill has been a long time supporter of numerous youth programs and charities in Cameron Country. He has also worked closely on many education and training initiatives. Funds raised for this dinner will support the Boy Scouts of America in the Rio Grande Valley.
