Dance to the rhythm of the Marimba at the Children's Museum of Brownsville on Sunday, September 20, 2009 from 2:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. Enjoy Music Sunday and learn all about an amazing instrument, the Marimba! The cheerful children's book ''Marimba! Animales from A to Z'' by Pat Mora will be read to young visitors. This cross-cultural alphabet book tells of the adventures of a marimba-playing monkey and its friends at the zoo. The book not only gives insight into our featured musical instrument, but also bridges two languages and two cultures by using the alphabet. Special guest Dr. Tom Nevill, from the University of Texas at Brownsville, will educate children on the sound, history and uniqueness of the Marimba, a wooden percussion instrument popular in Africa and South America. For more information on upcoming programs or activities please visit www.cmofbrownsville.com or call (956) 548-9300. Admission is $5 for adults and children, 12 months and under, FREE.
