The Children's Museum of Brownsville will host the exhibit ''World of Color'' by 14-year-old artist Itzel Cortinas Alvarez at the Future Artists of America Gallery from August 27 – September 20, 2009. The opening reception will take place on Community Night, Thursday, August 27, from 5:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. Admission is free to the public. Itzel has been art student for approximately 9 years at Academia de Artes Visuales in Matamoros, Mexico. She has participated in numerous collective exhibits and international contests including: ''The Children's Bird Show'' at the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art , ''Este es mi México'' sponsored by the Mexican Consulate in Brownsville and Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ''Brownsville International Birding & Nature Festival'' Exhibit. She also displayed her artwork numerous times at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Tamaulipas (Tamaulipas Museum of Modern Art) and Festival de Otoño (Fall Festival) in the neighboring city of Matamoros.
