Weeklong Activities at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System WHAT: During the National Salute, VA invites individuals, Veterans groups, military personnel, civic organizations, businesses, schools, local media, celebrities and sports stars to participate in a variety of activities at the VA medical centers. The activities and events include special visits and valentine distributions; photo opportunities; school essay contests; special recreation activities and Veteran recognition programs. The week also provides an opportunity for the community to become acquainted with the volunteer opportunities within the medical center. WHEN/WHERE: Wednesday, February 15, 2012 VA Health Care Center at Harlingen 2601 Veterans Drive, Harlingen, Texas 9:00AM: Refreshments, valentines, and hobby kits distributed by volunteers and service organization. Hobby kits delivered to home bound Veterans by staff from Home Based Primary Care Program. Valley Baptist Medical Center 2101 Pease Street, Harlingen, Texas 2:00PM: VA to visit Veteran patients at Valley Baptist Medical Center with Harlingen JROTC students. Thursday, February 16, 2012 Harlingen VA Outpatient Clinic, 2106 Treasure Hills Blvd, Harlingen, Texas 9:00AM: Refreshments, valentines, and hobby kits distributed by volunteers and service organization. Golden Palms 2101 Treasure Hills Blvd, Harlingen, Texas 2:00PM: Visit Veterans at Golden Palms Retirement Center across VA Clinic WHO:The Department of Veterans Affairs – VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS) leadership team including members, clinic administration, VA volunteers, VA program managers and the local community.
