United Way of Northern Cameron County Presents "A Day in the Park", Guest Reader Mayor Chris Boswell. Sack Races, Family Games, Book Give-Away. United Way's National Day of Action mobilizes and inspires citizens to seek ways to Advance the Common Good, on one day, and on many. This year we are hosting a Day of Action at Fair Park with a focus on literacy. There will be reading stations, mural painting, games and book give-a-ways. In partnership with the Boys & Girls Club, the City of Harlingen, Workforce Solutions, and the Harlingen Public library, we have scheduled this Day of Action in Fair Park, June 30th, from 11 am to 2 pm. How can the business community help with this Nation-wide effort to make an impact on childhood literacy? VOLUNTEER, JUST AN HOUR OR TWO: 11 am to 12, 12 pm to 1, 1 pm to 2 We are looking for volunteers to take on a game or activity for the children in attendance. We have hula hoops, sacks for sack races, and yo yo's for a yo-yo contest. If you and your associates would like to help us out, it would be greatly appreciated!
